I had never heard of Ruth Asawa before and I am so glad that you chose her because her pieces are wonderful. Her use of negative space within the piece makes them so visually attractive. I especially like the one that looks like a tree. I just want to touch it! haha
Ruths work had great composition. I bet her artist statements are a lot better than ours. I'm a big fan of her hanging wire pieces. Those always have a great effect when you get to see them in person. I think I have to favor Sophie's work more though. Just the size alone puts it in a whole next level. The dedication and vision is astounding. Not that Ruths work does require artistic vision, it definetly does, but some of Sophies works are bigger than people which takes so much more work to make it look that good. Either way both great works by great artists.
